Date: April 2006

Scorpion Automotive, a supplier of innovative products to the commercial and consumer automotive sectors, has selected Remploy Electronics to manufacture surface mount PCBs to be used in products across its range. Applications will include aftermarket vehicle security and in-car audio devices.

Scorpion Automotive was formed 18 months ago when Electro Systems, an established automotive component maker, purchased the well-known Scorpion brand to complement its existing design, manufacturing and merchandising operation. Originally best known for car security products, the Scorpion brand now extends into vehicle telecommunications, multimedia and position sensing systems. A recent development is its rear steer axle control system for multi-axle commercial vehicles and trailers.

Commenting on the choice of Remploy Electronics, Mark Downing, managing director of Scorpion Automotive, said: "Remploy provides high quality, responsive delivery and competitive prices for small to medium volume complex PCB manufacturing. It also offers the level of integrity that we find essential when subcontracting part of our production process for equipment where there are security or safety implications."

Rick Cook, general manager, Remploy Electronics, added: "Scorpion is establishing a strong reputation with its wide-ranging portfolio and Remploy is pleased to be part of that success story. Our recent investment in RoHS-compliant processes and ongoing quality and training programmes are all geared to helping our customers concentrate on their core competencies with the confidence that we are adhering to the same high standards that they demand of themselves."
